I wonder if fear is an aspect of love, it must be. I've heard before that you must fully love yourself before you can love another, yet I feel that fully loving ourselves is one of the hardest things we can ever accomplish. It is my view that God made us in his image and that He loves us implicitly, no matter what, but how can we love ourselves and then put ourselves out there and not be absolutely terrified?
To me, love is all about taking chances and the ultimate risk of showing your soul to the world. Will your love be returned, your feelings reciprocated? To many, this is the true fear; what if you are rejected? Well, rejection is the road to understanding. You must understand why that person was not "the one" for you and move on. It is in our power to change our lives and to find the ultimate human love. The ultimate love is the love God has for us; He will never let us down, reject us, or turn His back on us. We are part of Him and He, part of us. This is the love that will never fail you and will always shine in the depths of your heart and soul.
I believe that He makes soul mates for us and wishes for us to find true happiness and joy in life by finding that counterpart in the world, but we must inherently know that His love will never fade, never tarnish and will never abandon us. He gives us fear to recoginize our emotions and, I think, to truly gage how we feel about someone. Thus; fear must be embraced. Fear must not be looked upon with disgust or cowardice, but it must be understood and identified. If you fear for something or someone, that is God telling you how you feel. Know that He will give you strength and love to guide you through it. Whatever happens is meant to be and is meant to teach you about love, life and yourself. Have a little fear....and a little faith.
